Don't Fear the Smart Home that's Coming Your Way
But, perhaps its coming a little more slowly to your strata apartment ...
A range of home automation devices are becoming more commonplace in our homes [think Amazon’s Alexa & Echo, Google’s Nest & Home, and Apple’s Homepod & Siri] and they are now connecting to more and more other IoT [internet of things] devices like speakers, cameras, lights, door locks, etc.
So, I found this thoughtful article by Timo Feldhaus in Space 10 about the human evolution issues that surround the concepts of home and how they are impacted by new home technologies very timely [given how much more time we’re spending in our homes post Covid] and very interesting. I recommend it to you.
I was especially taken with the concepts Timo explores about safety and privacy enhancements in the home these new technologies may offer. They ran counter to my casual thinking and differ from what many technology commentators are saying about your home devices spying on you.
So, perhaps the ghosts in the machines are actually our friends and not to be feared like in the eponymous movie.
I guess this is not exactly today’s issue in strata title buildings but it is definitely going to be tomorrow’s.
Plus, automated homes, IoT technology, and connected devices offer more great opportunities to provide even more benefits to strata owners, residents, and others in strata buildings.
