Housing prices in major Californian cities [like San Francisco] have been rising so much that there’s a serious housing crisis for many people. Plus, restrictive planning controls have stopped the proliferation of high-density buildings.

But, the proliferation of granny flats has become one of the solutions; benefitting the existing home owner and the new resident as this article explains. It’s pretty neat.
